Welcome to Trayah and thank you for visiting...
When I first decided to move away from a secure government job, embark on a journey of learning, self-development and self-discovery and start up my own remedial massage venture, I didn’t have the slightest clue what I was going to call it. I knew what I wanted it to be, I knew the services I wanted to offer and the way I wanted to help people, but any idea of a name completely escaped me…until I started seeing the number 3 everywhere.
The number 3 would pop up wherever I went, it seemed, and from then on whenever I thought about a name for my new business, it was there in the forefront of my mind.
Then I made the connection: Trayah means 3 in Sanskrit, an ancient, sacred language that first came to being in India. Spiritually, the number 3 represents a sign that the chosen path is the right one, that hard work should be undertaken to achieve goals, to trust decisions and have faith in one’s own ability.
This was all I needed to know. I knew everything would be okay.
And so, Trayah was born.
Being able to help people through this business has, in a sense, allowed me to help myself. After several decades of emotional and mental trials, paddling like mad to stay afloat and conform with the societal norm, I had lost my dharma - my purpose. I was entrenched in routine. I worked with some of society’s most difficult individuals and was emotionally drained from the negativity that sadly shrouded them.
At that point my mind was clouded with thoughts of “Is this it? Is this what life is supposed to be for me?”. I’d had enough. I began searching for guidance.
It was then I discovered Reiki, having been recommended the treatment by a friend. The rest, as they say, is history. I set an intention prior to my treatment and asked for guidance on what to do with my life. I asked for help to find my purpose.
Over the next few weeks, I realised my purpose. I simply wanted to make people feel better - physically, emotionally and mentally (of course, all ‘3’ - the mind, body and soul - are intrinsically linked). I wanted to help people to smile again from the inside. I wanted to help them to find hope and positivity.
Having previously been what seemed like a permanently injured runner for over 12 months – even in a wheelchair at one point - I valued the power of an amazingly performed massage. I was more than aware of the effect bodywork had on my mind, body and soul and how physical pain can impact mental well-being. I wanted to help others, as I had been helped.
One day whilst sitting in the garden watching the lorikeets play, it came to me. I felt drawn to become a Reiki Master and Remedial Massage Therapist to help others to feel better about and within themselves. I researched, planning courses and timeframes and decided to take a leap of faith and embark on my new journey.
I am a fully qualified professional Remedial Massage Therapist specialising in Remedial & Sports Massage. I utilise a range of techniques to try and address the source of your problem not just the symptoms. I use myofascial techniques including soft tissue release, joint mobilisations, passive release techniques, METs, myofascial release and stretching, dry needling, cupping and active/passive stretching to name just a few.
I am also continuing further training and mentorship with Stuart Hinds, one of Australia's leading performance and soft tissue specialists with over 27 years experience. He is also internationally recognised for his work with the Australian Olympic team across 4 different Olympic games and regularly lectures at Victoria University.
I am also a Level 1 Manual Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner - joining an internationally recognised network and trained by Michelle Vassello of Rhythm Massage.
I have a passion for supporting those with chronic health conditions including lymphoedema, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and arthritis amongst others. Due to my own experiences, supporting sports people to maintain peak performance by supporting their bodies before, during and after training along with injury rehabilitation is also something very close to my heart.
I am also an Advanced Reiki Master, having been trained in traditional Usui Reiki and will soon be offering Reiki Courses and Reiki Circles which will include meditation and yoga.
I am covered by AON insurance and am a member of Massage & Myotherapy Australia. I am also trained in First Aid and CPR. I am a Registered Health Provider with numbers for all health funds including Medibank, BUPA and AHM. I have a HICAPS machine at my Residential Clinic to enable quick and easy processing of your health rebate.
So, as part of my journey and chosen life path, I look forward to welcoming you to Trayah and supporting YOU on your journey to wellness.
